Grilled Steak with cream cheese and jalapenos
Submitted by: LISAR333Introduction
My son came up with this for deer steaks, but using a regular lean cut of boneless steak such as round steak works well also. The nutrition is figured with 5 ounces of meat per serving (that was the size of the steaks when I initially entered this) but can be adjusted for smaller steaks as well. The cream cheese and jalapenos can be spread out to smaller portions to make more servings or a smaller block of cream cheese (don't forget to decrease the number of jalapenos) to make fewer servings. Ingredients
-
Marinade
Boneless cut of steaks (approximately 4-6 pieces depending on size 4-6 ounces each.) A thinner cut works well but requires less cooking time, so adjust cooking times.
8 ounce package of cream cheese softened
3-4 jalapeno peppers (can adjust more or less depending on taste)
4-6 strips of hickory or other smoked bacon
Tips
The steaks can be prepared before preparing the rest of dinner and grilled last so they are nice and warm.
Directions
Marinade steaks in any kind of marinade or salad dressing. You can use whatever kind you want, but something with a kick is really good. Just enough to cover the meat to marinade the meat for at least a few hours (overnight is optimal).
Cut tips off Jalapenos and chop fine (a few pulses of a food processor is great so you don't have to expose your hands to the juice).
Blend jalapenos with the softened cream cheese.
Place a dollop of the cheese and pepper blend at the end of a steak and roll up.
Wrap steak in a piece of bacon.
Secure with toothpick.
Place steaks on preheated grill and grill for about 5 minutes on each side (adjusted for how well done you like your steak and how thick they are).
Serving Size: 1 steak. Makes 4-6 servings depending on size of steaks
