Crock Pot Steel Cut Oatmeal

Submitted by: TOOKEP

Introduction

I love Steel Cut Oatmeal. But I HATE making it in the morning. This recipe is perfect . . it cooks overnight and is ready for me in the morning.

I have founf out thet it tastes VERY good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream served on top. This discovery was made when I used all of our milk in the recipe and I like my oatmeal with milk.

Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 C Steel Cut Oatmeal
    4 C Milk, 2%
    1/4 C Brown Sugar
1 T Vanilla (or to taste)
1 tsp Cinnamon (or to taste)
2 tsp Nutmeg (or to taste)

I serve 1/2 Cup instead of 1C because it is so filling.

Tips

Cook on low for 8 - 10 hours. I always go for 10 the first time I use a new crock pot. Then adjust the time to meet the heat the pot produces.

Directions

1. Spray, with cooking spray, a bowl that will fit inside of a crock pot.
2. Mix all ingredients together in the bowl.
3. Place bowl inside large crock pot.
5. Pour water into crock pot (outside the bowl with mixture in it) and make sure it is even with the ingredients in the bow. You are making a water bath.
6. Set crock pot on low for 8 - 10 hours.

Serving Size: 1 Cup
