Ingredients

    1 ripe firm pear
1 French baguette cut into 10 1/4-inch slices
    1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup Daisy Brand Cottage Cheese
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped crystallized ginger
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh basil, cut into strips

Directions

Core and slice the pear into 10 thin slices. Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Lay the baguette slices on cookie sheet. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray. Bake baguette slices for 10 minutes or until slightly crisp. Remove from oven and leave on the cookie sheet. Top each baguette slice with 1/2 teaspoon of blue cheese and a pear slice. Return to the oven for an additional 3 minutes or until cheese is melted and warm. Remove from the oven and place on a serving platter. In a small bowl, mix the cottage cheese and the ginger. Spoon a scant 1/2 tablespoon of the cottage cheese mixture over the pear slices. Top each with a few basil strips. *Optional: Top each with a pecan half for added crunch.

These were very good. I'm thankful to Daisy for offering such tasty recipes for us & that they are helping to keep this wonderful site free for us. My problem with the recipe is in the directions it says "Makes 12 servings" & in the nutritional panel it says "Makes 10 servings". Mine made 10. - 11/28/12

This sounds delicious and I think I will try it on gluten free crackers for my celiac husband. Yes, any brand of cottage cheese will work, but compare the Daisy ingredient labels to any other brand - no additives! Since I discovered that, I've used no other brand. - 11/28/12

The reason this sight is free is because of advertizers like daisy get over it and use an other brand of cottage cheese if that is what you want to do, I'm really enjoying all the recipes they are posting. - 11/28/12
