Kara's Kabbage Kasserole
Submitted by: MYKIDZRKUTEIntroduction
I took several recipes and tweaked them to suit my lo-carb needs :) This bad boy has 6.8 net carbs and a little over 300 cal for a decent sized serving. The cabbge is quite filling and since it uses heavy cream it has such a comfort feeling :) You could change the heavy cream to skim milk and the egg to egg sub if you are watching calories. Ingredients
-
1lb lean ground turkey
1/2C onion, diced
4 C cabbage, diced or shredded
2 eggs, beaten
1C heavy cream (liquid, not whipped)
11/2 C italian cheese blend, shredded
Tips
I used purple cabbage when i made this and boy was it a beautiful dish to eat!! Next time I make it i am going to add mushrooms...That will keep it low carb and up the flavor and nutritional value :)
Directions
Fully cook ground turkey. In the same pan add chopped onion and shredded lettuce. Sautee until tender, about 5 minutes. in the mean time, mix beaten eggs, heavy cream, and cheese in a bowl. Transfer the turkey cabbage mixture to a 13*9 backing dish that has been pre sprayed. Dump all of the egg/cream/cheese mixture over top the cabbage/turkey mixture. Mix thouroughly. Pop into preheated oven (350) for 30-35 minutes, until cheese seems "gooey". Sprinkle with parmesean cheese and broil 5 min. more. Enjoy!
