I like making the soup using vegetable broth instead of beef. Also, I like cooking my onions in a pan sprayed with butter spray to carmalize the onions first then add water and broth. - 10/20/08

Good! I carmelized the onions first, before adding the broth. Instead of using shredded cheese, I put a slice of mozzarella over the bowl and melted it under the broiler. yum! - 12/22/08

If you like a strong beef broth soup with a little onion flavor you will like this. If you want real french onion soup look elsewhere. Carmelizing onions are an essential step to making a rich tasting onion soup. There also is not enough onions in this recipe even if you did carmelize them. - 3/30/10

Try frying the onions to carmelize then add broth. Vidalia onions work best - 10/20/08

Simple and easy to make, and not bad. Very bland So much more flavor could be added, with little or no added calories. - 10/18/11

Excellent. I cameralized te onions with garlic and thyme ; and also added portebello mushrooms. After simmering added cornstarch and a dash of non fat evaporated milk to thicken a little with a cup of white wine added to the beef broth. - 10/25/09

Good soup. If you put the croutons (which are much cheaper to make than buy) on top of the cheese they won't get so soggy. - 3/30/09
