DIY Poptarts

Introduction

Make your own poptarts! Make your own poptarts!
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    Crust:
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 t. salt
    1/4 c. shortening
    3 T. cold water

    Poptart:
    Crust (above)
    Jelly of your choice

    Glaze:
    1 c. powdered sugar
    1/4 c. milk
    food coloring of choice
    sprinkles

Directions

Crust:
Combine flour and salt.
Cut in shortening with pastry blender.
Add water one tablespoon at a time until you have a dough-like consistency (you may need more or less than 3 T.)

To make poptarts:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Place dough on floured surface and roll to 1/4-in. thickness.
Cut out strips 3-in wide & 4-in long.
Place 1 T. of jam on a strip.
Crimp edges with a fork.
Top with another strip and crimp edges together.
Continue with all other strips.
Place formed poptarts on baking sheet.
Bake 7-8 min or till slightly browned.
Cool.
Combine all glaze ingredients and spoon onto cooled poptarts.
