Sweet dinner rolls (cia sio bau)

Introduction

Deliciously sweet as a dinner roll or do for an Asian sandwich. Deliciously sweet as a dinner roll or do for an Asian sandwich.

Ingredients



    *Yeast, Red Star Active Dry Yeast, 2 tsp
    *Water, 1 cup
    *Flour - Gold medal all purpose flour, 3 1/2 cup
    *Granulated Sugar , 1/2 cup
    *Baking Powder, 2 tsp
    *Margarine (hard), 1 tbsp

Tips

Fillings suggestions: BBQ beef or pork or chicken. Chopped meat seasoned to taste. Chopped hard cooked egg. Sausage or any other idea you can come up with. The Asian name is cia sio bau (pronounced as Show Pow).


Directions

For dinner rolls: Place all ingredients in bread machine according to manufactures directions. Set for dough setting. When complete, pinch off 2 oz. dough and roll into 3 balls each. Place 3 balls into a greased cupcake pan in each section. Let rise 30 minutes in warm, draft free area. Bake at 350F for 13-15 minutes until light brown.
For Asian sandwiches: Separate dough into 12 2 oz. portions. Roll each portion into a ball. Make a hole in the center of each ball and fill with sandwich filling.(see tips) Seal ball so filling won't leak out. Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Let rise 30 minutes in warm, draft free area. Bake at 350F for 10-15 minutes until light brown.
