Slow Cooker Apple Sauce

Submitted by: KARYNWHO

Introduction

A simple and tasty unsweetened apple sauce that you make in the slow cooker. The grocery store near us sells bundles of 6-8 slightly bruised apples for a dollar, so we buy them and immediately turn them into apple sauce. Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    About 18 apples, assorted varieties
    Juice of half a lemon
    3 cinnamon sticks

Tips

Some recipes call for added sugar, but I find that the sauce is still quite sweet without adding any sugar at all -- however, if you plan to "can" or preserve your apple sauce instead of storing it in the fridge and consuming it within a week or so, a little sugar may be helpful as a preservative.
