Orange Bread

Introduction

Number of Servings: 30

Ingredients

    6 Tbsp. shortening
    2 cups sugar
    4 eggs
    1.5 cups hot water
    .5 cups orange juice (about 2 oranges)
    .25 cups orange zest (about the zest of the 2 oranges)
    4 cups flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt

Tips

This is a double recipe. It can be halved for a single loaf recipe.

If there is extra batter still, place in muffin liners and bake for about 15 minutes.


Directions

Cream shortening, eggs, and sugar.

Combine orange juice, HOT water; set aside orange rind.

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Alternately mix in orange mixture and flour mixture to the creamed sugar mixture.

Place in two greased loaf pans.

Bake at 350 for 45-55 minutes, depending on how full your loaf pans are.
