Sauteed Bok Choy

Introduction

Bok choy or leafy Chinese cabbage is one of the popular mainland crops in China, Philippines, Vietnam and other oriental regions. It is popular in the western world for its sweet, succulent nutritious stalks. It is also named as pe-tsai, pak choi, petsay, white-celery mustard, Chinese white cabbage…etc. Bok choy or leafy Chinese cabbage is one of the popular mainland crops in China, Philippines, Vietnam and other oriental regions. It is popular in the western world for its sweet, succulent nutritious stalks. It is also named as pe-tsai, pak choi, petsay, white-celery mustard, Chinese white cabbage…etc.

Ingredients

    3 bunches Bok Choy
    1 Tbsp ground ginger
    1 Tsp garlic powder
    1 Tsp onion powder
    3 Minced garlic cloves
    ¼ Cup diced red onions
    2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Directions

Wash the greens and roots thoroughly. Strip the leaf from the root. Separate the leaf from root. Chop root into small pieces and set aside. Stack the leaves on top of one another, roll up and slice into ½ to 1 inch slices and set aside. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add garlic, onions and ginger and cook 1 minute. Add chopped roots and sauté until tender. When tender add leaves, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt and ground ginger. Mix well and let cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. When done, taste and adjust seasoning.
