Low-fat, low-cal, but HIGH PROTEIN comfort food for those winter evenings! Low-fat, low-cal, but HIGH PROTEIN comfort food for those winter evenings!Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
-
1 lb. ground venison
1 large onion, chopped
15 oz. can chili beans (choose hot or mild)
15 oz. can tomato sauce
29 oz. can diced or whole tomatoes
2 T. chili powder OR 1 packet chili powder seasoning
1 c. uncooked, whole-wheat elbow macaroni (opt.)
Tips
This is my go-to chili recipe. It works well with beef (drain fat!) or chicken also. Don't be afraid to makeover this recipe to fit your family!
Directions
Brown venison and chopped onion in a med/large soup-pot over med-high heat. While that is browning, boil a small pot of water on another burner and cook macaroni for 7 minutes (just underdone.)
Once venison is browned and onions are soft, add all the ingredients to your big soup pot, including the drained macaroni (plus about 1/4 cup of the water leftover from the macaroni water.)
Mix well and let simmer for about an hour.
Serving Size: makes 8 - 1 1/2 cup servings
