Bolo de fubá com especiarias

Ingredients

1.5 cup granulated sugar
1.5 cupyellow cornmeal
1 cup white flour
1 cup butter
.5 cup nonfat milk
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoons ground ginger
4 eggs

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Beat butter with the sugar until it is creamy. Add the egg yolks and beat for one more minute. Beat the egg whites until they are stiff and reserve them. Add the white flour, the yellow cornmeal and the baking powder and beat until the mixture is homogeneous. Finally, add the beaten egg whites by folding into the mixture. Divide the mixture into two parts. In one of the parts, add the cinnamon, cloves and ginger and mix well. Alternate spoonfulls of each of the batters. With a fork, swirl the two mixtures to give it a marble effect. Bake in preheated oven for approximately 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out dry.
