Spicy Beefy Gnocchi
Submitted by: AMANDA102013Introduction
This dish is something I threw together on a whim with things I had, just so I could take something with to work. Not including waiting for the water to boil, it took seriously about 5 minutes to throw together. It is also extremely low in fat, if low-fat is your focus. Unfortunately the processed food here adds a bit too much sodium. I would also prefer to find a truly whole wheat gnocchi, as the "whole" wheat gnocchi I bought actually has zero whole wheat in its ingredients. I justified it with the fact that it is more potato than flour anyway (and I am very pro potato). Ingredients
-
1 Package 17 oz Whole Wheat Gnocchi (vacuum sealed)
1 Large Can Roast Beef with Gravy
1/2 Jar Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
2 tsp Italian Seasoning
1 tbsp Black Pepper (or to preference)
Tips
2 minutes for Gnocchi al dente. A little longer makes it softer, but too long will turn it to questionable mashed potatoes.
Directions
Boil water
Add Gnocchi to water. Boil for 2-5 minutes
Drain Gnocchi
Drain Most Gravy out of Canned Beef. Add to Gnocchi.
Add half the jar of Pasta Sauce.
Mix thoroughly over heat, shredding meat.
Add spices to preference. A good amount of black pepper gave this dish a real kick that screamed "it must be entirely homemade." Mix well and enjoy. I would serve it with a hefty side of veggies.
