Introduction

Ingredients

    432 grams/1 lb Kala Chana, dry
    3-4 cups water
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt

    1 T olive oil
    432 grams/1 lb Onions, raw, dices
    28-32 oz-fresh tomatoes, diced (or fire roasted cans)
    2 jalapenos (or mild chillies0
    3 tsp chili powder
    1.5 tsp garam masala (or 3/4 tsp each cumin, corriander powder)
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp turmeric
    2 cloves garlic


Directions

1) Rinse beans.
2) In slowcooker, add beans, watere, 1 tsp salt, soda. Slow cook 5 hrs
3) In heated oil (medium), carmelize onions (45-60 min)
4) add tomatoes, jalapenos, garlic, and spices. Cook ten minutes

Serve with rice, chapatis or naan.
