Submitted by: LIZ9685

Introduction

i was diagnosed with meniere's disease years ago, having Meniere's means i must eat a low salt diet (i cant eat anything that has more that 120mg per 100g)

because of this i cant eat any processed bread, i found this recipe for flat bread and changed a bit so that i could make it when i felt like a bit of bread.

Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    Flour, white - 4 cup
Yeast, instant dried - 2 serving (2 teaspoons)
    Baking Powder - 0.5 tsp

Yogurt, plain, low fat - 185 grams
    Egg, fresh - 1 large
    Olive Oil - 2 tbsp

    Milk, nonfat - 180 grams

Tips

i add ground spices to add a little flavor.

also you can add a filling and wrap the bread like a pocket, and bake in the oven.

if you wish to add salt to this recipe add salt to the yogurt mix, if you add salt directly to yeast it can kill the yeast. which means your bread wont raise properly.

Directions

in a small bowl mix yogurt, egg and oil.

in a large bowl combined flour, yeast and baking powder

warm milk to blood temp (warming the milk helps to activate the yeast).

in the flour bowl add the yogurt and milk mix into a thick dough (if you have a mixer with a dough hook use it)

Once all combined place on a floured bench and kneed for 3-4 mins.

place in bowl, cling wrap and place in a warm area to double in size.

once double in size divided into six portions and roll out into rounds, place on a tray and 'allow to rise for about 10 mins.

brush with a little oil and place under the grill till golden brown, flip bread over and grill other side till golden brown.

enjoy.
