A_sparkling's Frozen Turkey Philo Pie Entree

Submitted by: A_SPARKLING

Introduction

Tired of buying frozen meals that were made with lots of extras? Change things up and save dollars. Use your leftovers and save on the sodium, and other things you prefer not to have and go back to a nice homemade pie that cuts the fat by using a thin piece of philo to wrap your custom homemade pie in!

So many possibilities with your veg choice swap them up...maybe have a little dark meat mixed in with the white, maybe make it beef or pork whatever you and your family like you can have on hand for a quick nutrious meal and add an easy side salad with balsamic and olive oil dressing!

You can make one or several depending on your leftovers. Have fun creating your own healthy tasty frozen entrees!

Number of Servings: 1

Ingredients

    Phyllo pastry 18 grams
    Turkey light meat .5 cup
    Carrots 2 Tblsp
Sweet corn (can, frozen or fresh kernels) .5 cup
Potato (mash from baked or plain boiled mashed) .5 cup
    Turkey gravy 2 Tblsp

Tips

Frozen philo pastry comes in large amounts so it is better to make up several at a time or come up with some other ideas in the next couple of days with the philo so you don't waste...maybe some apple cinnamon raisin desserts? If you don't use all the philo paper, wrap it back up and then wrap again with a damp cloth and place in fridge to keep moist for a couple of days.

Directions

Thaw your philo pastry in advance.
Use an extra large muffin tin or small tinfoil pie plates to hold the ingredients.
1. Line your tinfoil plate with some of the philo sheet. I divide a thin sheet into 4 pieces, using 2 pieces for the bottom and save the remaining pieces for the top.
2. Add your poultry, meat or pork of choice.
3. Follow with your veg choices leaving the potatoe for the top, add 2 Tblsp of your homemade gravy.
4. Tuck in 1-2 pcs of philo for the top of pie.
5. Wrap in Saran wrap, or folding top sandwich bag and then place in freezer bag and place in freezer.
6. When ready preheat oven to 350 degrees and take your frozen entree out remove plastic and place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
