Refrigerator Oatmeal Smoothie - Invent Your Own

Ingredients

    1/4 c. uncooked oatmeal
    1 c. milk or fruit juice
    1/4 c. plain, lowfat yogurt
    1 c. fruit
    1 T. honey or sugar
    1 t. jam or jelly
    optional - 1/2 t. cinnamon
    optional - 1/2 t. vanilla

Tips

The nutrition count is for this recipe using 1 c. milk, 1/2 c. banana, and 1/2 c. strawberries.


Directions

Add oats to blender; blend on high until texture of flour. Add liquid (milk/juice) to blender; use spoon or spatula to stir in oats from bottom. Add yogurt. Add fruit and any additional flavorings. Blend on high until desired smoothness. Taste and add honey or sugar, if needed. Blend again. Transfer to pint (2 cup) jar or container; refrigerate overnight, or a minimum of 4 hours, so oats can soften. Will keep in refrigerator at least 2-3 days. Shake before drinking.
