3/4 cup brown rice or your favorite kind of rice
    3/4 brown lentils
    1/2 tbsp thyme
    1/2 tbsp marjoram

    2 tbsp tamari
    15 oz. can chick peas
15 oz. can dark red kidney beans
    1/4 white miso paste

Tips

To thicken slightly, use an immersion blend and pulse a few times to puree a small amount of the soup.

Directions

Heat oil. Add onions and saute until softened slightly. Add garlic and saute 1-2 minutes more. Add broth, water, celery, carrots, rice, lentils and herbs. Stir and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 40 minutes. Add wine and tamari, bring to a boil for 5 minutes then reduce heat and add beans. Heat through, then turn off heat and stir in miso until dissolved. Taste and add a little more miso if desired.
