Split Pea Soup with Pork Bone

Introduction

Thick, creamy, healthy soup for a rib sticking cold winter's day. Thick, creamy, healthy soup for a rib sticking cold winter's day.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 lb. split green peas
    8 cups water
    1 small onion
    garlic cloves
    1 large carrot

    salt
    pepper
    fresh windowsill herbs.

Tips

I pureed mine to make it a smooth, creamy soup that needed no milk.


Directions

sautee garlic and onions in soup pot in 1 tablespoon oil. Add 8 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add thoroughly washed split peas, 1 teaspoon each of turmeric, cayenne pepper, thyme, and 2 bay leaves. Cook for 1 hour or until tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serving Size: Makes 8 1 cup servings
