1/2 cup Cocoa, dry powder, unsweetened
2 cups Granulated Sugar
1 1/2 cups Water
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 tablespoon in half cup milk makes a 12-15 carb gram snack.
1 tablespoon in a whole cup of milk 25-27 carb gram (not super sweet either)
Diabetes educators tend to round everything up, as I was told "store bought chocolate milk" was 15 carbs for a 1/2 cup when given suggestions to get more carbs in my picky eater. But the bottles I'd seen all had said 27 grams per 8 oz. So this syrup recipe seems comparable to store bought for a lot cheaper without gums or other thickeners or corn syrup which spikes my family's BG readings.
