Smoothered Steak with Mushrooms

Introduction

Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1 1b Mushrooms, sliced
    2 medium Onions, raw, 2 medium (2-1/2" dia) , diced
    1 stalk Celery, raw, 1 stalk, medium , diced
    1/8 teasp Garlic powder,)
    Pepper, black, to taste start with 1/8 teasp)
    1/8 teasp Basil,
    1/8 teasp Thyme, ground
    Beef, round steak,
    1 lb Beef broth, bouillon, consomme,(1 cube plus 1 cup water)
    1 tbsp Now Foods Guar Gum, or 1 teasp xanthum gum or 1 tablespoon corn starch

Directions

Set aside and refrigerate slicend mushrooms.

Mix all the seasonings into the boullion/broth. Add the guar gum and stir until there are no clumps.

Put the onnios and celery in the bottom of a crock pot. Put meat on top the vegetables.

:Pour seasoned broth mixture over meat.

Cook on high setting for 4 to 6 hours. Add mushrooms a half hour before serving.

Note: If you are going to freeze some for leftovers, dish up that portion just before you add mushrooms to the crock pot. Put the proper share of the mushrooms into the freezer containers raw. It won't take much to cook them when you reheat.
