Calvin's Beef Stew, homemade

Introduction

I use Chuck Steak for this recipe. Although somewhat tougher, it is cheaper than most cuts but it tenderizes just fine in the 1 1/2 hour boiling in this and most beef stew recipes. Number of Servings: 9

Ingredients

    2 lbs, beef, cubed small 1 inch cubes
    1.5 tbsp canola oil
    5 medium potatoes, 1/2 inch cubes
    7 small carrots, peeled and chopped
    3 stalks celery, chopped
    2 packets of brown gravy
    1 packet of beef stew seasoning
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1 tsp cardamon powder
    3 cups of water

Directions

Sear beef in skillet on medium high heat and put into slow cooker. Cover with water, add beef stew seasoning, cover cooker with lid and cook on high heat for 1 1/2 hours (boiling) or until meat is tender. Add remainder of ingredients and cook for another hour. Enjoy!

Serving Size: Makes about 9 2-cup servings
