Introduction

This soup is traditionaly eaten on Friday afternoons when all the family is gathered around the table. A tablespoon or two of Fenugreek sause (hilbe) is added to the soup. Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    4 pieces of chicken or beef
    1 small head of celery (about 10 stalks)
    4 small to medium sized onions
    4 medium potatoes
    2 large carrots
    Fresh cilantro
    2 tsp salt
    1 tsppepper
    1 tbsp tumeric
    1/2 tbsp ground cumin

Tips

Recipie can be easily doubled if necessary.


Directions

1. Peel potatoes and leave whole.
2. Peel carrot and slice on an angle.
3. Wash and cut small the celery.
4. Peel the onions and leave whole.

Put all the above into a pot and add water, spices and chicken. If using beef, cook the beef with the celery and spices until almost ready and then add the vegetables - this will add to the cooking time.

Dice the cilantro and add it at the last 10 minutes of cooking time.
