Joe's Favorite Chili

Submitted by: LILYBELLE12

Introduction

My husband likes to make this chili on cold winter days. Add a few whole grain chips, low-fat mexican blend cheese, and low fat sour cream for a little more flavor just before eating. Ingredients

    1 McCormick Chili Seasoning Packet
1 can Diced Tomatoes with Garlic, Basil, & Oregano
1 can Light Red Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed
1 can Black Beans, drained and rinsed
8 oz. Lean (93%) ground Hamburger
8 oz. Italian Sausage (ground and loose)
    1/2 sweet onion, finely chopped
    2 tsp Canola Oil

Tips

Directions

1. In deep pot, heat Canola Oil and saute onions until soft. Add lean ground beef and Italian Sausage and cook thoroughly, chopping it to keep it loose with a spoon as it cooks.
2. Drain or spoon off extra fat once meat has cooked, and then add the seasoning mix, tomatoes, and beans.
3. Continue to cook on medium to low heat for about 45 minutes until thoroughly cooked.
4. Serve (Makes 6 servings).
