Asian Orange Chicken

Introduction

This has become our household's favorite recipe. It's quick, it's easy, and everyone loves it. I like to serve it with jasmine rice. This has become our household's favorite recipe. It's quick, it's easy, and everyone loves it. I like to serve it with jasmine rice.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    1/3 cup warm water
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    2 T orange juice
    2 T lower sodium soy sauce
    2 T ketchup
    1 T white vinegar
    4 cloves minced garlic
    1/2 t red pepper flakes
    1/4 t Chinese 5 spice powder
    1 t grated orange rind

    1 T olive oil
    1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed.

    2 t. cornstarch
    2 T water

    2 green onions, chopped

Directions

Mix first 10 ingredients (from water thru orange rind) in a small bowl and wisk until well mixed.

Heat oil in large skillet over medium high heat. Add chicken and cook until all sides are golden brown. Reduce heat and add sauce mixture. Cover and simmer 10 minutes, or until chicken cubes are cooked through.

Stir cornstarch into water. Add to pan. Cook and stir 2-3 minutes until thickened. Add green onions, just until heated.

Serve with jasmine rice if desired.
