Sausage and Peppers Calzones

Submitted by: SISTHOROUGHBRED

Introduction

My new favorite new thing making calzones and pizzas out of tortillas. Making these are an easy way to keep myself on the right track. After making them before placing them in the oven I just spray them down with cooking spray and place them in the freezer. Bring them out and bake them for 30 minutes.... awesome My new favorite new thing making calzones and pizzas out of tortillas. Making these are an easy way to keep myself on the right track. Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

5 Lean Sweet Jennie-o Turkey Sausage
    8 Mission Low Carb Tortillas
    1 Large Onion
    1 Green Bell Pepper
    1 Red Bell Pepper
    1 Yellow Bell Pepper
    2 Jalapeno peppers
1/2 cup low sodium tomato sauce
    4 oz Mozzarella Cheeese
    2 tbls Fresh Basil
    Olive Oil Cooking spray

Tips

By placing 1/3 of the filling you will have some left over, if you don't have any more tortillas you can freeze it for later use.... good for lettuce wraps also

Directions

1. Chop Peppers and Onions into strips. Place in pan sprayed with cooking spray, cook until soften.
2. Take sausage out of casings and crumble into pan.
3. Add tomato sauce and cheese, cook filling until turkey is cooked thru.
4. Add basil at the end.
5. Place 1/3 of filling into each tortilla.
6. Around the edges of the tortillas slightly wet them, so when closing it will help the calzones stay close.
7. When ready bake the calzones at 350 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes, flipping them half way thru....
ENJOY!!!!!

Serving Size: Makes 8 calzones
