Exotec's ApplesauceSubmitted by: EXOTEC
IntroductionHomemade crockpot applesauce. Homemade crockpot applesauce.
6 apples - pick a mix of sweet and tart
1 T ground cinnamon
2 T brandy
This is plenty sweet without added sugar.
Some reviewers on other sites suggested "Red Hots" candies, other (additional) fruits, or fruit preserves for sweetening. You can add some walnuts at the end (just to soften) if you're using it as a dessert topping.
I suggest making double (or more) batches, as it's not likely to last in any household which enjoys applesauce!
You're going to be "ruint" for the commercial stuff.
Add to crockpot with remaining ingredients (no more than a couple T of water!) and cook on high 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally.
It's done when you can mash the apples with a slotted spoon. You can puree with a blender if desired. It's also good as a dessert topping as is (no blending).
Serving Size: about 6 1/2-c servings
Number of Servings: 6
