C2L.PUDDING BROWNIES

Introduction

Ingredients

    BATTER:
    1 C unbleached white flour
    1/2 C sugar
    1/4 C unsweetened cocoa
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 C skim milk
    1/4 C applesauce
    1 tsp vanilla extract

    TOPPING:
    Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
    1/3 C brown sugar
    1 C hot water

Tips

It tasted really good after it cooled some after it was first done. Later on that night it tasted a little more dry.


Directions

Batter:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease an 8X8-inch baking pan with margarine or a cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
Spoon batter into pan.

Topping:
In a small bowl, combine cocoa and brown sugar. Mix in hot water. Pour mixture over batter in pan.
Bake for 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
Cool brownies in pan.
Remove to serving plate. Take excess pudding from pan bottom and "ice" brownies with it.
Serve warm or refrigerate.
