Introduction

Low Sodium Baked beans Low Sodium Baked beans
Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    Dry Pinto Beans, 2 cup
    GV Turkey Bacon, 1/2 lb
    Brown Sugar, 2 cup, packed
    Yellow Onion, 1 medium, chopped
    Kraft Hickory Smoke BBQ Sauce, 17.5 ounce bottle

Tips

You can substitute your favorite BBQ sauce for this. The longer it sits, the better the flavors blend.


Directions

Soak beans over night per bag instructions. Drain, rinse and cook the next day until beans are tender. Drain again and add BBQ Sauce. Set aside.
Cut bacon into 1 inch pieces. Add to frying pan with onion and fry until most of the fat is rendered. Add brown sugar and mix until sugar has melted and starts to simmer.
Add bacon mixture to beans and simmer on low for 1 hour.
