1Cup cooked macaroni
1 Cup soft bread crumbs
1 Teaspoon finely chopped onion
2 cups grated Sharp Cheddar
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs, well beaten
1 teaspoon Chopped green or red Bell Pepper
1 Tbs butter
1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 cup Dry Bread Crumbs
1 Tbs Olive Oil
Salt ,Pepper, Paprika
Not sure about actual prep time I had to put something...
I grew up with this and never understood the appeal of the box macaroni and cheese, it is nothing like this "well worn prized recipe" of my mom's from the Household Searchlight cookbook from the 1940's
I guess you can try to cut fat and calories by using egg whites, I make the soft bread crumbs in a blender or food processor, use low fat/calorie bread for additional calorie savings...not sure about fat free cheese, I will experiment and get back to you...enjoy!!
