Blueberry Cranberry Crisp

Introduction

A less sweet blueberry crisp with lots of flavor! A less sweet blueberry crisp with lots of flavor!
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    2 cups fresh blueberries
    1 cup frozen or fresh cranberries
    2 tbsp sugar
    juice and zest from one orange
    1/2 cup oats
    1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
    1/3 cup cacao nibs or chopped nuts
    1/4 cup chia seeds*
    1/4 cup poppy seeds*
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp salt
    4 tbsp butter, room temp.
    2 tbsp maple syrup

Directions

Preheat oven to 375.

Place blueberries and cranberries in a 9x9 pan, add 2 tbsp sugar and the juice from one orange. Stir together.

Mix together dry ingredients and orange zest in a bowl, cut butter into pieces and knead it into dry ingredients to make crumble. Pour crumble over the berries, and drizzle with the maple syrup.

Bake in the oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes, or until berries are bubbling.

Serving Size: Makes 12 2" pieces
