Developed this as a gluten-free trail mix breakfast bar for a back packing trip, but at 1000 calories it's a meal and a couple snacks and weighs about 8.5 ounces. Ingredients

    1 C Arrowhead Mills Maple Buckwheat Flakes (43 grams)
    4 T dried chopped dates (80 g)
    2 T almond butter (32 g)
    1/2 tsp Morton Lite Salt
    3 T Manitoba hemp hearts (30 g)
    2 T black sesame seeds (20 g)
    3 T honey (30 g)

Tips

It helps if you have a food scale that will measure grams.


Directions

Crush cereal. Add remaining ingredients. Heat for 30 seconds in microwave. Mash and stir all ingredients together. Place in plastic sandwich bag and seal. Now form into bar shape by compressing and tapping edges on a flat surface. Place in fridge or freezer to set.
