Mom's Spaghetti

Submitted by: WAZAROO

Introduction

Homemade sauce cuts the sugar but keeps the taste in my favorite spaghetti. It's even better the next day. Homemade sauce cuts the sugar but keeps the taste in my favorite spaghetti. It's even better the next day.
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    1 large onion, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound extra lean ground beef
1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
    2 cups tomato sauce
    2 tablespoons tomato paste
    1 cup water
    1 tablespoon dried basil
    1 tablespoon dried oregano
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    1 teaspoon salt
16 ounces thin spaghetti, cooked al dente and drained

Directions

Add olive oil to a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic until translucent and tender. Add beef and cook until brown. Drain fat.

Add Lipton soup mix, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water and seasonings. Stir to combine and lower the heat to medium-low. Simmer sauce for 30 minutes so flavors combine, stirring occasionally.

Add water if a thinner sauce is desired or seasoning as needed.

To serve, ladle sauce over hot, drained pasta.
