Introduction
This comes out so moist and you cut out most of the fat using applesauce This comes out so moist and you cut out most of the fat using applesauceNumber of Servings: 12
Ingredients
-
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup applesauce
1 1/2 cups mashed bananas
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Grease bread loaf pan, unless it's non stick.
Mix all dry indredients into a large bowl, make sure to mix well.
Mix all wet ingredients in another bowl, make sure to mix thoroughly.
Add liquid mix to dry mix and stir thouroughly.
Put into bread loaf pan and cook for approximately 55 to 65 minutes. I always start checking the colour around 50 minutes, should be a nice golden brown. Insert a toothpick in centre to check if it's done. Toothpick may be moist from bananas, just make sure it's not moist from batter.
Let bread cool in pans for about 5 to 10 minutes. Run a knife along outside edge to loosen sides.
Looking for something sweet, add chocolate chips, just make sure to add in your calories.
This bread is great warm with peanut butter on it.

This is a great recipe. My husband is not a very big sweets eater, but he gulped it down. If he had more than two thumbs he would have put them all up. I tweeked it also by using 1cup white flour, 1 cup wheat flour, vanilla, cinnamon, walnuts, and choco. chips. I will definitely make it again. - 8/28/09

My husband LOVED these! My daughter said it was the best muffin she's ever had! I had LOTS of banana's on the edge so tripled the recipe and made muffins, two bundt loaves and one loaf loaf. I also used 1/2 sugar 1/2 splenda and they were great! Next time I'm gonna use half whole wheat flour. - 2/24/10

It was awesome my 3 yr old twin boys loved it! as well as my husband and myself! super moist, I did add a little cinnamon and a little more milk and it turned out great! Next time I want to try chocolate chips and nuts! maybe some dried berries! - 6/5/12

I used all whole-wheat flour, which gave the bread a nutty taste that we enjoyed. I also used 1/4 cup of Splenda instead of the sugar, and 1/4 cup of egg substitute instead of the regular egg. It wasn't very sweet, but we liked it that way because it really allowed the banana to shine through :) - 3/8/12

I did make a lot of modifications. I used 2 cups of WW flour, no sugar, no salt, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp flax meal, 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds (raw pepitas), 1/4 cup honey, 1 cup mashed banana, 1 cup applesauce (homemade), 1/2 shredded zucchini. So moist and yummy!!!! A keeper!!! - 2/26/12

Just put this in the oven.... Really hoping it turns out! I've never made banana bread before but had 5 bananas that were past the point where I'd eat them so thought I'd try it. I took a posters advice and added choc chips Plus nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla because I love spices in my food. :) - 2/10/12
