4 pears, peeled
5 cups unsweetened apple juice
1 orange, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves
Cook on mediium heat (just below boiling) until pears are tender. Cooking time will vary depending on size and ripeness of pears. Remove pears to individual serving bowls and pour a little of the juice over each pear.
May be served war, at room temperature, or chilled.
If desired, garnish with a little yogurt or whipped topping and a sprig of fresh mint, or serve by sitting each pear upright on a pineapple slice. Any remaining juice can be served as a beverage, either hot or cold.
