AMMONIA COOKIES

Submitted by: BB_WOLFE

Number of Servings: 84

Ingredients

    1 oz. baking ammonia
    2 tsp. oil of lemon
    1 pt. skim milk
    2 c. light butter
    4 c. splenda
    5 egg whites
    1 tsp. salt
    7 to 12 c. flour

Directions

Buy baking ammonia and oil of lemon at a drug store. Crush ammonia and put into milk 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Mix as you do for sour cream cookies. Roll and cut. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until LIGHT brown. When cookies are fresh baked, they are ammonia flavored, but the longer you keep them, the lemon flavor comes through.

  • Baking ammonia is perfectly safe to use. Also called bicarbonate of ammonia, and similar (interchangable to a degree) with bicarbonate of soda. Here's a link for anyone who needs reassurance...
