Introduction

This is a modified recipe taken from Paula Deen. Instead of 1 lb of ground chuck I substituted the extra lean meats. The sodium in this recipe can be reduced by using one of the recipes found here for salt free or sodium free taco seasoning which is what I did This is a modified recipe taken from Paula Deen. Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    1/2 lb extra lean ground beef
    1/2 lb extra lean ground turkey
    3 Tbsp minced raw onion
    3 Tbsp diced pickled jalapeno pepper
    2-3 tsp taco seasoning mix

Directions

Heat grill or oven to 325°. Place meat in a medium size bowl. Chop onion and add to meat along with other ingredients. Shape into 4 4oz patties. Place on hot grill over indirect heat or in oven on broiler pan on center rack. Cook until well done and juices run clear turning once. Serve on whole wheat bun with toppings of your choice.
