Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    For Cilantro Sauce
    1/4 c green onions (scallions)
    1/4c Cilantro
    2 tbsp light Mayonnaise
    3 tbsp light sour cream
    1-2 limes
    Salt to taste
    1 garlic clove minced

    Fish
2 3-4 oz mahi mahi or red snapper steaks
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp ground coriander
    1/2 tsp paprika
    1/2 tsp red pepper
    1/8 tsp garlic salt
    4 6" - 8" corn tortillas
    2 c cabbage

Directions

For Cilantro Sauce
Combine first 7 ingredients into a bowl amd mix, set aside.

Fish
Season fish with cumin, coriander, paprika, red pepper & garlic powder, place on hot grill for 4 -5 minutes on each side (depending on thickness). Make sure that you spray your grill with Pam or similar product. Once fish is cooked through warm the tortillas in the microwave. Cut fish lengthwise and place in tortillas. Put about 1/2 c cabbage on top of fish, then 1 tbsp of the cilantro sauce on the cabbage.

You may also make an extra light version of this recipe by omitted the tortillas and places the fish steaks on a bed of cabbage and topping the fish with the sauce. This lighter version shaves off about 113 calories and 1.5 g of fat

This makes 4 tacos

  • The sauce was very acidic as I used 1 1/2 squeezed limes. My husband couldn't eat it. The sauce needs work or taste it first or you may get a sour surprise. Definitely needs avocado as a topping. - 1/13/12

  • I changed a few things with this. I did make it with Mahi-Mahi, but without the seasonings due to making a mango/avocado salsa. I love the cream sauce. I did omit the onions due to my personal preference. It is a great meal! - 12/5/11

  • These blew our minds. We have been wanting to try fish tacos for a while but always talked ourselves out of them. Not anymore! We are looking forward to leftovers for lunch tomorrow. My husband raved about them. Thanks for the recipe. - 9/17/11

  • These are great! Only difference was I used tilapia and baked the fish at 425 for 15 minutes (I like a dry fish). I also cut up some celery for extra crunch and threw that on top of the fish.. - 2/20/11

  • These were good and it was nice to try something different. I thought the seasoning was on the verge of too spicy for me. Next time I may ration it out a little better. Thanks. - 3/2/09
