Savory Rice Pilaf

Ingredients

    Ingredients:


    Brown Rice, long grain, 1 cup
    Louis Rich Turkey Bacon, 1/2 pound
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Celery, raw, 1 cup, diced
    Sage, ground, 1 tbsp
    Thyme, ground, 1 tbsp
    Swanson Chicken Broth 99% Fat Free, 2 1/2 cups
    Parsley, 10 sprigs


Directions

With kitchen shears, cut 3 slices of bacon at a time into bite size pieces. Cook in a large skillet, separating and stirring til crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and cook onions and chopped celery in bacon grease. Just before they are cooked all the way through, add the uncooked rice and brown lightly. Add 2 cups of chicken broth, the sage, thyme, parsley and crisped bacon. Bring to a boil then lower heat to simmer til the broth is absorbed. Add more broth as needed til rice is cooked.
Makes four 1 cup servings
