Introduction
This tastes just like cheese pizza, plus you get about 25% of your daily calcium in one meal! Pair this with a salad and you have a great pizzaria style lunch without the calories attached...or the bill. 2 slices mixed grain bread....I like Orowheat.
2tablespoons marinara sauce
1/4 cup mozzarella cheese (low moisture, part skim)
1 teaspoon shredded parmesan
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Spread 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce on each piece of bread. Spread mozzarella cheese evenly, on side with sauce, on first piece of bread. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over mozzarella. Top with second piece of bread, sauce side down. Place in heated pan and cook until cheese inside is melted and outside is golden brown...or darker if you like. Plate up and enjoy! Makes one (1) serving.

This is a tasty variation of the traditional grilled cheese sandwich. I added some basil and oregano and a few red pepper seeds for added flavor--then grilled it in a pan sprayed with olive oil. I made a small salad with plenty of fresh vegetables to go with the sandwich--a very satisfying meal. - 11/26/09

Try Pita pizza use whole wheat pita shell as the base a low cal pizza sause, all the veggies you want!! I like spinach red onion, tomato, what ever you like on your regular pizza then add a bit of cheese put in the oven until cheese melts. its so good I actually like this better than take out pizza - 1/26/10

Good idea! Thanks for sharing. I have actually done this in the past..suggest to use sliced rather than shredded cheese (less messy!), and sandwich pepperoni is good. Also, pan-frying onions for min or 2 re moves some of the excess water. Seems real kid-friendly too..my niece will enjoy this! :) - 1/19/10

My daughter is having a sleepover with a bunch of teenage girls. I'm going to make a big salad and cut up a bunch of toping to set out and buy whole wheat pita bread. Then the girls can have a "built a pizza" meal that is healthy, fun and suits their individual tate.
Thank You so much for the idea. - 8/4/09

This recipe was AWESOME! What a great idea! I used homemade pizza sauce (the recipe from SParkRecipes is called "Pizza Hut Sauce clone" YUM!) and I also sauteed muchrooms to put on before the cheese. I also cut out parmesan and used [GASP] a pat of butter to give it a really crispy yummy crust. - 3/11/10
