Haaversen family basic bread

Submitted by: NHAAV6

Introduction

This recipe we use for all our basic bread needs, it makes 4 pampered chef(stoneware) mini loaves. They slice into at least 10 pieces each. We also use this to make our hot dog and hamburger buns, not to mention basic dinner rolls. People love the flavor and the texture. Ingredients

    1 1/2 c hot tap water
    3 Tbsp butter
    1/3 c sugar
    1 large egg
    1 tsp salt
    3 c whole wheat flour
    2 c bread flour
    3 tsp vital wheat gluten
    4 tsp yeast

Directions

Place liquids into bread machine first, add the egg, butter, salt and sugar. Add the flours, wheat gluten and yeast. Process on dough cycle. When machine is done, place dough on cutting board and let rest for a minute. Cut into 4 equal balls, form into loaves and place into 4 mini bread pans(I use pampered chef stoneware) or freeform loaves, rolls or buns. Let rise about 30 min and bake at 350 for bread 25-30 min. Or 375 for buns or rolls. Make sure loaves or rolls are a nice golden brown. As soon as the rolls or bread come out of the oven lightly brush with melted butter. For rolls this recipe makes about 32, depending on size you choose.
