Introduction

A family favourite! A family favourite!
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    3 cups plain flour
    6 tsps baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt
    75gms butter
    1 - 11/2 cups Calcitrim milk (approx)
    extra milk

Directions

1) Sift flour, baking powder & salt into a bowl.

2) Cut butter in until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.

3) Add milk and mix quickly into a soft doug.
Gently knead a few times.

4) Lightly dust an over tray with flour. Press scone dough onto this.

5) Cut into 12 pieces dipping knife into some flour as you go OR use a circular scone cutter.

6) Leave a 2cm space between scones. Brush tops with a little milk (or spray with olive oil).

7) Bake at 200C for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Date scones:
Add 3/4 cup chopped dates, 1 tbsp of sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon to the flour.
Prior to baking, sprinkle scones with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

Sultana scones:
Add 3/4 to 1 cup of sultanas to flour.
Glaze tops with milk or little spray of olive oil.

(Obviously adds extra to the Nutritional panel for these last two).
