Introduction

Very chocolatey, hot and fudgy - how can you go wrong?! This recipe is so easy and such a hit that I usually have to use a recipe and a half and put in a 9 x 13 pan. Ingredients

    Stir together in bowl
    1 c. flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 TBS cocoa
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp salt

    Stir into dry ingredients
    1/2 c. nonfat milk
    2 TBS butter

    Blend in
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

    Spread in 9" square pan
    Sprinkle with mixture of
    1c. packed brown sugar
    4 TBS cocoa

    Pour over entire batter
    1 3/4 c. hot water

Directions

In a medium bow, combine flour, sugar, TWO TBS cocoa, baking powder and salt. Stir in milk, and butter just until smooth. Add chopped nuts. Spread mixture in an ungreased 9" square baking pan.

Combine brown sugar and four TBS cocoa; sprinkle over batter in pan. Pour hot water over all; DO NOT STIR.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 - 45 minutes or until the cake looks dry on top. During baking, cake mixture rises to top and chocolate sauce settles to bottom. Invert square of cake on dessert plates. Drip sauce from pan over each square or the entire cake can be inverted in a deep serving platter. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Makes 6 servings.
