Penne Bake with Turkey Sausage

This is a twist on a friend's recipe that includes penne pasta, turkey italian sausage (not polish, I couldn't find the Italian kind in the recipe builder), cheese and tomato sauce. An easy weeknight meal - yum!

Ingredients

    8 oz penne pasta
    turkey italian sausage, between a 1/4 and 1/2 pound
    1 cup marinara sauce
    1 can/1 cup tomato sauce
    1/2 tsp parsley
    1 tsp basil
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
    1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    1/8 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare large pot with salted water to boil pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Slice grilled sausage and set aside. Add marinara, tomato sauce & all spices to the pot and stir occasionally over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Add back pasta and stir until pasta coated evenly. Continue stirring occasionally for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Stir in cooked sausage, mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

Pour pasta into brownie pan sized baking dish. Bake 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and browned.
