Mock Wendy's Frosty

Mock Wendy's Frosty

Introduction

Delicious, low-cal drink I found on a forum for moments when you want chocolate. I will be drinking this even after I reach my goal. It is that good. Delicious, low-cal drink I found on a forum for moments when you want chocolate. I will be drinking this even after I reach my goal. It is that good.
Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    1 CUP Nonfat (skim) milk
2 TBSP Sugar-Free, Fat Free Chocolate Pudding Mix
    1 TSP Vanilla Extract
    1 TSP Unsweetened Cocoa
1/2 TBSP Splenda (2-3 small packets)
    2 TBL Cool-Whip Free (optional)
    7 Ice Cubes

Tips

Top with whipped cream, if desired.

Directions

Place all in a blender that chops ice well. Blend until all is well mixed and all of the ice is chopped up. Mixture should be nice and thick. I like to pour the drink in a Starbucks cup or some other attractive-looking container!

This recipe makes almost 20 ounces, which I personally think is too much for one serving. I highly suggest dividing this recipe in half or share the full recipe version with someone special.

I tried this a few ways my favorite was to use almond milk and replace the ice with a banana, Just peel slice and freeze the banana It does add flavor but I could not tell it wasn't ice cream

Nice substitute for the real thing and really low calorie count is a plus. I would recommend only putting 5 or 6 ice cubes. It is a little more like a milkshake and not as thick but I found if I added all of the cubes the flavor wasn't as satisfying. Also, you could add peanutbutter, so worth it! - 1/2/09

I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk (less calories) 1 tbsp pudding mix. and the rest of the ingredients per the recipe. I add 1tbsp of cool whip free before blending (makes it really creamy). I am a choco-holic and this definitely hits the spot! - 3/15/11

Awesome. I only had sugar free vanilla pudding and used that instead with just a little extra cocoa powder for the chocolate, it was awesome! - 11/21/10

What a tastey treat! I made it without the cool whip. Tastes more like pudding than a frosting but it's definitely awesome! Thanks for sharing it :) You're righ--I'll be drinking this even after the weight loss is over. - 6/8/08

There were three of us so I trippled the recipe, used an entire box of SF pudding mix, a combo of Mocha Mix (lactose intolerant) and a little heavy whipping cream, instead of milk, cap of good vanilla, and 3 instant Starbucks coffee packets. YUM!!! It was like a frosty-frappe! Kids LOVED it!!! - 4/7/13

I would try it with just cocoa powder, vanilla, stevia or (gasp!) a little sugar. No pudding mix, cool-whip, just pure chocolatey goodness. Or try adding non-fat yogurt to add some body. - 8/25/13

Pretty darn delicious. My blender couldn't break down my ice cubes completely. May have to smash em up a bit first. Added 1/2 a banana. Very thick and rich tasting. Used almond milk. - 8/25/13

Made as listed, very, very good. I plan to use almond milk and strong coffee next time, in place of the milk. It was plenty sweet for me with 2 packets of Splenda, so may adjust that, but my husband loved it as I made it. - 8/25/13

Used my Nutribullet to make this. It came out grainy and very runny. Will try again using my smoothy maker and maybe less chocolate and ice. The cool whip calories are not included in the full nutritional breakdown so I'm assuming the cool whip is optional for on top of the drink and not in it? - 8/25/13

Very chocolaty indeed, but I made half a recipe and it was nowhere near 10 ounces. I used 3 crescent shaped ice cubes. Hardly even a Junior Frosty size, but very tasty. - 2/5/12

  • This was my recipe! All I did though was ICE and MILK and COCOA POWDER. No sugar. No wanna-be sugar. (ASPARTAME GIVES YOU DIABETES and KEEPS DIABETICS DIABETIC- ITS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE) Anything else you add it to it needs a scoop of protein powder if your'e going to load it up with fruit and extras - 4/12/14

  • Definitely a keeper for a low calorie chocolatey treat. I used 1 c almond milk. No pudding mix so I used 1 tbsp low sugar nesquik and stevia instead of splenda. Next time I might add half banana as it was hard to mix completely in my nutribullet and I want it a bit more creamy. - 4/1/14

  • I realize that this isn't exactly clean eating... But it is an awesome treat and, I think, better than frosties. (Sorry, Wendy's.) - 3/10/14

  • Too many chemicals for me too. Artificial sweeteners are one of the worst things you can put in your body! I'd rather just have a small real frosty every 2-3 years as I do now. They are yummy! - 3/4/14

  • I stay away from artificial sweeteners, but my husband doesn't and he's a diabetic with a sweet tooth. This sounds like a recipe he will love and never realize how low it is calorie-wise! - 3/4/14

  • I used stevia, instead of splenda. Which worked well, I would compare this to a starbuck frapp. Wonder if adding coffee to this recipe would work well. I used my magic bullet for this but added twice as many ice cubes. Good tasting drink overall!! - 2/24/14

  • You could substitute Splenda containing product with a Stevia containing product couldn't you? I mean really folks! Use your imagination and tweak it a bit to contain less processed ingredients if that is what you aim for. If it works well, please post the recipe to share. - 1/20/14

  • I've made similar versions to this. The pudding really helps thicken it up and boosts the flavor. I love chocolate so added an extra TBS of cocoa (and sweetener, to taste). Yum! - 12/21/13

  • YUM! I didn't have cool whip so I used whipping cream (whipped it first) and I also used chocolate almond silk milk. Used my nutribullet to whip it up (precrushed the ice first in a ziplock - hit it a few times with the rolling pin). Split the drink with my girlfriend. Fantabulous! - 8/25/13

  • I just made this for the first time. It's pretty tasty. I think what I'm going to do next time though is freeze half of the skim milk and poor in a little bit of fat free half and half so it will be more creamy. It will be a little bit more calories though :) - 8/25/13

While this recipe is really good and yields a great flavor, it is nothing like a Wendy's Frosty. It is very thin instead of being thick like a real Frosty. But I was satisfied because I enjoyed the flavor and appreciated the low sugar content. Used unsweetened vanilla almond milk to cut carbs. - 3/28/13
