World's Best (and easiest) Salmon

Introduction

I usually go for the more complicated recipes, assuming that the more ingredients and preparation steps, the better. This recipe has changed the way I look at simplicity when it comes to cooking. Fancy spices be darned--this is the only way I'll cook salmon any more! I usually go for the more complicated recipes, assuming that the more ingredients and preparation steps, the better. This recipe has changed the way I look at simplicity when it comes to cooking. Fancy spices be darned--this is the only way I'll cook salmon any more!
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

1/4 cup pure maple syrup (NOT pancake syrup!) or honey
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    2-3 cloves minced garlic
12 ounces fresh or thawed salmon

Directions

Combine the first 3 ingredients in a gallon-size ziploc bag, shake it up, and then add the salmon. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for an hour, turning after half an hour. Pour the salmon and the marinade into a baking dish and bake in a 350 degree oven, covered with foil, for 15 minutes. The salmon is done when it flakes easily at the thickest part. Enjoy! Makes (4) 3 ounce servings.

Had this tonight and it was delicious! I used low-sodium soy sauce, wrapped the fish in a sealed foil packet, and used the juice on reheated, leftover brown rice. Fabulous with fresh broccoli. Thanks for sharing this! - 12/28/10

Absolutely Delish! We fixed it with the Maple Syrup and as written. It reminds me of the Bourbon Chicken you get at the malls. I'm going to try it with Chicken and see how it turns out. I've been sarching for a recipe that would mimick the Bourbon Chicken at the mall...this might do it! - 8/13/10

Good recipe. The only issue I had was that prep time showe five minutes and is supposed to marinate one hour. If you didn't read directions first would leave you pressed for time on weeknight. - 3/18/12

This is the only salmon I will ever fix again! Next time, I'm going to marinate it in half of the marinade and grill it. I will baste it with the rest of the sauce. We served it with wild rice; perfect compliment! - 1/2/11

My little brother DOES NOT eat fish and he saw me eating this for lunch. Said it smelled good. I told him it had maple syrup, soy sauce and garlic in it... three things he likes. He actually TRIED the fish and thought it was good. Unbelievable. The recipe so tasty and satiates a sweet tooth too, lol - 5/29/10

  • Although this recipe was very good, it is not me favorite way of preparing salmon. I prefer it with a mixture of feta and cream cheese melted on top. If I'm going low calorie I think that baking salmon with a little butter, lemon juice and garlic salt is the best way to go. - 4/2/13
