Gourmet Burgers

Introduction

My favorite burger topping of all time My favorite burger topping of all time
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

    4 lean hamburger or turkey burger patties
    4 whole grain burger buns
    3 tbsp olive oil
    2 cups of mushrooms, sliced
    1 cup of sliced red onion
    4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
    3 tsp sugar
    4 oz crumbled blue cheese (I use reduced fat)
    4 slices of bacon, or substitue tukey bacon, cut in half

Directions

1. Heat olive oil in medium skillet
2. saute onions and mushrooms, adding balsamic vinegar and sugar while stirring. Cook 15-20 minutes until vinegar evaporates and veggies are soft.
3. While veggies are cooking, cook burgers on grill to desired doneness.
4. Top each cooked burger with 1/4 of mushroom mixture, 1 oz of blue cheese crumbles and 2 slices of the cut bacon (= one slice total per burger)
