Ingredients

    1 pkg. Pilssbury reduced sugar yellow cake mix
    1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (can reduce to 1/2 cup)
    1 egg white
    * 1/2 to 1 cup chopped dates
    * 1/2 to 1 cup chocolate chips (or chopped walnuts) - optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13x9" pan and dust with flour; set aside. Combine cake mix with applesauce, egg white and rice milk and mix until a batter forms. By hand, stir dates and chocolate chips (can also use nuts) into batter. Spread in prepared pan.
Bake bars at 350 degrees F. for 35-40 minutes until edges turn golden brown. Cool 10 minutes, then run knife around edges of pan to loosen sides. Cool one hour, then cut into bars. 38 bars
