Ally's Blueberry Green Smoothie - No Dairy

Submitted by: INVISIBLE_SUN12

Introduction

Try it, you'll like it! No dairy, very healthy for you. The almonds add a creaminess to the smoothie, and you can't taste the spinach at all. This is a great way to get some really healthy greens in! Ingredients

    1 cup frozen blueberries
    1 fresh banana
2 cups fresh spinach (trust me!!)
    15 almonds, plain (NOT SALTED)
    1 cup water
    6-8 ice cubes

Directions

Blend all ingredients very well. If your blender doesn't chop the almonds very finely-- really to a paste, then you may want to smoosh them up first before you put them in the blender. They add a creaminess that will substitute for a milk or soy product, and are very good protein. This makes one large serving, and is great for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. My kids even love it!

  • This was delish! I only had frozen banana so I didn't use ice and I only had 100 cal plain almond packs-so my protein was a bit less but it tasted great! Thanks! - 1/4/12

  • pretty good. I'll definitely make again. I used TJ's Just Almond Meal, 2 T, instead of the almonds -- that is just a tiny bit less in calories than in the almonds in this recipe. I also added ground flax seed (c. 1.5T) & Oat Bran (c. T). really great nutrients! - 11/1/10
