Banana Chocolate Chip Scones

Introduction

I had to add 1/4 to 1/2 cup more flour, likely because I was loose in measuring the banana, so it was too much and the dough too sticky. But they turned out GREAT. Ingredients

    1 7/8 cup flour (whole wheat and wheat pastry)
    3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
    1 7/8 teaspoon baking powder
    3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    3/8 teaspoon baking soda
    3/8 teaspoon salt
    1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1 tablespoons cold butter
    3/4 cup mashed bananas
    1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk + 1 Tbsp lemon juice
    1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter. Mix banana and milk and lemon juice thoroughly. Add to the dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips. Mix until just moistened. Knead 12 times. Pat out into a 6" circle.

With a sharp knife, cut into 12-16 wedges. Place 1" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 425F for 12 minutes or until golden.
